Waikato Diocesan School is dedicated to the success of our international students and we provide a friendly and welcoming environment for them to reach their potential. We accept around 30 international students a year from a range of countries such as Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. Students can choose to live either with a New Zealand family at a homestay, or in our boarding houses.
Students study towards the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). Year 13 students are prepared for the International English Language testing system examination and for the literacy units that they require for University Entrance. Students’ learning is supplemented by English language programmes and subject support.
The International Centre provides a personalised service including admission and enrolment assistance, accommodation, counselling, orientation, language and academic support to ensure each international student's stay at Dio is successful and enjoyable. Parents/ guardians are regularly informed of their daughter’s well-being and progress.
Waikato Diocesan School for Girls has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Ministry of Education. The code can be viewed here.
